Hank Sinatra Set to Release First New Music since 2016, Featuring Special Guests
RALEIGH, NC -- Hank Sinatra has been around in one form or another since 2005, with tens of thousands of followers on their various socials and touring regularly with players in many of the country’s major markets. There was an LA version, a Nashville crew, Austin, NYC, and even a Dublin, IRE crew, just to name a few. After years of late nights, delayed flights, and making way too many bad decisions in cheap hotel rooms in 2019 the band went on indefinite hiatus, totally unaware of what the future had in store.
Fast forward to Nov ‘23 when good friend and former Ramones tour wrangler Rick Johnson talked lead singer Jeff “Jeffro” Holshouser out of “retirement” and tapped him to perform a tune with Lenny Kaye and Friends at the Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, NC for one of Kaye’s Nuggets Compilation 50th Anniversary Show concerts — and it was just the shot in the arm ol’ Hank needed. Holshouser then reached out to the band’s lead guitarist and his longtime collaborator Sam Madison to get started working on some new material, using all these events as inspiration. But the group had a new energy and needed players that shared the same vision and again, Rick Johnson came to the rescue suggesting they reach out to drummer Scott Carle (Dillon Fence, Collapsis) who came on board bringing bassist Eric Lee with him. Suffice to say Hank came roaring back with a vengeance and a drive to get back out on the road! It’s been full steam ahead ever since.
A solid working relationship grew from that Nuggets performance (their live recording of “Kick Out the Jams” can be found on all major streaming platforms) and the band was honored when Kaye came back to NC for Record Store Day 2024 and joined them for their “Burn It Down” album release show at the Pour House Music Hall in Raleigh, NC where they reprised KOTJ with Lenny handling the intro — plus the band covered Link Cromwell’s (Kaye’s alter ego) 1966 garage rock classic, Crazy Like A Fox. 2026 marks the 60th anniversary of that release so they coaxed him back into Cowboy Technical Services studio in Brooklyn, NY to record an updated version of “Crazy” with Hank boys backing and Eric “Roscoe” Ambel producing. The band is submitting that cut for Record Store Day 2027 consideration, along with three brand new singles on their own label, Slaphappy Records.
